Πρόκειται για μια εκσυγχρονισμένη (αρχικά προβλήθηκε από το 2010 έως το 2015 στο δίκτυο NBC) μεταφορά στην μικρή οθόνη της κινηματογραφικής ταινίας του 1989 με τον Στιβ Μάρτιν, η οποία είχε ξαναγίνει σειρά μίας σεζόν το 1990-91. Στο Netflix την ανακάλυψε ένα ευρύ κοινό και έγινε πολύ δημοφιλής, καθώς όλες οι ηλικίες μπορούν να ταυτιστούν με όσα περνάνε στις ζωές τους οι τρεις γενιές της οικογένειας Μπρέιβερμαν που ακολουθεί η σειρά.
